Although the original Apple Magic Mouse uses batteries that you can replace, the Apple Magic Mouse 2 has a non-replaceable, built-in battery that you have to charge. This wikiHow will teach you how to charge a Magic Mouse 2.
Steps
-
1Flip over the Magic Mouse 2. Since you can't replace the battery, you can charge it using a lightning cable and power source.
- For the fastest charging performance, make sure your Mouse is turned on.[1]
-
2Find the lightning port. You'll find the rectangular opening near the bottom of the mouse under some icons and text.
- When you purchased the Magic Mouse, you should have also received a lightning cable to charge it. If you don't have that cable, any lightning cable will work.

3Plug your lightning cable into an adapter and power source. Insert the USB-end of the cable into a wall adapter. The wall adapter looks like a white cube with two prongs on one side that fit into a wall socket.
- If you want to charge your mouse using your computer, plug the USB end of the cable into one of your computer's USB ports. You cannot, however, use the mouse when it is charging.
-
4Plug your lightning cable into your Magic Mouse 2. The lightning cable should fit either way it's plugged in.
