How to Tell if Someone Added You on Snapchat

Check the status of your pending Snapchat friend requests and see who's following you

This wikiHow teaches you how to check the status of an incoming or outgoing friend request on Snapchat. You can do this on both iPhone and Android smartphones. If the person you requested to add as a friend ignores your request, you'll still follow them and will only be able to see if they followed you in return by checking your list of followers.

Seeing Pending Friend Requests

Open
Snapchat. Tap the Snapchat app icon, which resembles a white ghost on a yellow background. This will open the camera view if you're logged into your Snapchat account.
- If you aren't logged in, tap LOG IN and then enter your email address and password.

Tap your profile icon. This icon is in the top-left corner of the screen.

Tap Add Friends. It's near the top of the page.

Review any names in the "ADDED ME" section. Any name that appears below the "ADDED ME" section belongs to a Snapchat user who has added you as a friend.
- You can add any people listed here by tapping Accept to the right of their names.

Seeing People Who Added You Back on iPhone

Snapchat. Tap the Snapchat app icon, which resembles a white ghost on a yellow background. This will open the camera view if you're logged into your Snapchat account.
- If you aren't logged in, tap LOG IN and then enter your email address and password.

Check the pending section. If the person just added you back, you'll have a notification in the pending section. To check for notifications, do the following:
- Tap the profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Add Friends.
- Look for names under the "ADDED ME" heading near the top of the screen.
- If you don't see any names here, tap the back button in the top-left corner, then tap X in the top-left corner.

Tap the "Friends" icon. It's a speech bubble icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Doing so opens a list of your recent snaps and conversations.

Tap the "New chat" icon. This speech bubble icon is in the top-right corner of the screen. You'll see a list of your friends appear.

Find the friend you want to check. Scroll down until you see the name of the person for whom you want to check the status of your friend request.

Long-press the friend's name. Doing this for about a second will prompt a pop-up menu with their information to appear.

Review the friend's information. If you see a blue button with white "Added" text to the right of their name, they have not yet added you back; otherwise, they've responded to your friend request by adding you.

Take a snap. Point your Android at any non-offensive object and tap the "Capture" circle at the bottom of the screen. This will take a picture snap.

Tap Send To. It's in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Select your friend. Tap the name of the person for whom you want to check the status of your friend request.
- You may have to scroll down to find them.

Tap Send. It's in the bottom-right corner of the screen. This will send your snap to the person and take you back to the "Friends" page.

Refresh the "Friends" page. Tap and drag down on the "Friends" page, then release the screen. This will ensure that you see the most up-to-date results.

Check the "Sent" icon. If the "Sent" icon under your snap is a red arrow, the person has added you. If this arrow is grey and has the word "Pending" near it, the person hasn't yet added you back.
- You may want to refresh the page two or three times to be sure—it can take a few seconds for the "Sent" icon to change from red to grey if your friend request is still pending.
