Two easy ways to block spammers and scammers on Snapchat

Blocking Unknown Spammers

    Open Snapchat. It's a yellow icon with with the outline of a ghost in the center.
    • Enter your username and password if you're not automatically logged in.

    Swipe down anywhere on the screen. Doing so takes you to the user screen.

    Tap ⚙️. It's in the upper-right corner of the screen and takes you to the Settings menu.

    Scroll down and tap Contact Me. It's the first selection in the "Who Can..." section of the menu.

    Tap My Friends.

    Tap the Back arrow. It's in the upper-left corner. Now, only people who you've added as friends on Snapchat will be able to send you messages, and spammers will be blocked.
    • You will still see ads in the "Stories" section of Snapchat, but advertisers will not be able to message you.

Blocking a Spammer in Your Friends List

    Open Snapchat. It's a yellow icon with a ghost logo in it.
    • Enter your username and password if you're not automatically logged in.

    Tap My Friends. It's near the bottom of the screen.

    Select an individual to block. Do so by tapping on their name and holding briefly.
    • You may have to scroll down through the alphabet to find them.

    Tap ⚙️. It's in the upper-right corner of the dialog box.

    Tap Block. Confirm that you're sure you want to block this friend.

    Select a reason for blocking the person. The options include "Harassing me;" "I don't know them;" "Inappropriate Snaps;" "Annoying;" or "Other." Select the one that best reflects your reason for block them.
