A top comment is a comment that has received the greatest number of likes on a video. Though it may sound simple, getting your comment to trend and hit the top requires strategy, which will be outlined throughout this article.
Steps
-
1Find a popular video. The video must be popular enough that is has at least a few hundred thousand views, but not so many that the video itself is no longer rising. You need to leave space for the video itself to grow.
-
2Watch the whole video. Take note of anything like which you would be willing to comment on.Advertisement
-
3Check the comments. If you see a comment which is rising to hit the top, indicated by a large number of votes in a short amount of time, reply to it immediately. Your comment will hit many likes as well.
-
4Add to the discussion and remember that what you are saying must be useful. Useless comments rarely hit the top. Remember that whatever you are saying is something people will want others to see.
-
5Talk about a background scene in the video that few (if any) people noticed. For example, type in "Did anyone see that old monkey get slapped in the face in the bottom right corner at 3:12?"
-
6Always remember that trending doesn’t always happen and that you must be persistent. Getting likes is mostly luck. Bad timing can render even the most useful comment a bottom comment. Always remember that for something to trend, you have to be lucky enough for it to strike a chord amongst the viewers.

QuestionWhat if it's a music video?RubyTop AnswererYou can still follow the steps in this article. Think of an original comment. Don't copy other people's comments. Say something interesting and unique. Avoid asking for likes or stating what year you are watching the video as people usually find those comments annoying. Consider saying something funny relating to the video as these usually get rated well. Comments about how the song affects you or a memory of the song usually get highly rated as well.
-
QuestionMy comments get pushed down to the bottom. Why does this happen, even if they get likes?RubyTop AnswererAlthough they appear invisible, dislikes can affect this. It could possibly be pushed to the bottom from dislikes. Sometimes newer comments make their way up to the top so people get a chance to see them.

- Try to comment on a video shortly after it is posted. This way, more viewers will see your comment since there will not be many at the time. This will be especially effective on rising videos.⧼thumbs_response⧽
