This wikiHow teaches you how to figure out which way is north using Google Maps on your Android.

Steps

  1. 1
Open Google Maps on your Android. Look for the tiny map icon labeled “Maps” on the home screen or in the app drawer.
  2. 2
Tap the location button. It's near the bottom-right corner of the map and looks like a solid black circle inside a larger circle with crosshairs.

  3. 3
Tap the compass button. It's the red and white double-arrow icon near the top-right corner of the screen.
  4. 4
Find the “N” on the compass. When the red “N” appears on the compass, the red needle will be pointing to the north.
    • The “N” will disappear quickly. You can tap the compass button again to bring it back up.
