An easy-to-follow guide to check your lost Twitter followers

While Twitter doesn’t tell you when somebody unfollows you, many other services fill that gap. The catch is that for most of these services to track your unfollows, you'll have to give them permission to access your data on Twitter. We've gathered a list of some of the most popular free apps and websites that can track who unfollows you on Twitter.

Method 1
Method 1 of 5:

Using Who.Unfollowed.Me

  1. 1
Go to https://who.unfollowed.me in a web browser. Who.Unfollowed.Me is free for all accounts with 75,000 followers or fewer.[1]
  2. 2
Click the sign in w/ twitter button. It's at the top-right corner.

  3. 3
Sign in with your Twitter account and authorize the app. Like most other services of this type, you have to give Who.Unfollowed.Me permission to view and modify most aspects of your Twitter account to use the service. They won't post on your behalf, though.
  4. 4
Click the Unfollowers link at the top to see your unfollowers. The first time you sign in, you won't see any unfollowers yet. But from now on, when somebody unfollows you, they'll show up on this page.

Method 2 of 5:

Unfollower Stats

  1. 1
Go to https://www.unfollowerstats.com or install Unfollower Stats for iPhone/iPad. This service has both a website and an iPhone/iPad app that can keep you updated on who unfollows you on Twitter. Unfollower Stats is free with ads for users with 30,000 or fewer followers.
    • Users with more followers will need to pay for a premium subscription to use the service.
  2. 2
Sign in with your Twitter account. If you're using a computer, click Sign-In with Twitter to log in with your Twitter username and password. You will have to give Unfollower Stats permission to view and manage your tweets and profile, but they promise not to post on behalf of you.[2]
    • Before you log in, you'll see a list of permissions you'll have to grant Unfollower Stats for the service to work.
  3. 3
Go to your dashboard. The first time you sign in, you'll be taken right to the dashboard. If you're using a computer, you can go directly to the dashboard at any time by visiting https://unfollowerstats.com/unfollowers.
    • Unfollowerstats can only tell you who unfollows you after the first time you sign in. When you check back after someone unfollows you, you'll see the person who unfollowed you in the Unfollowers section.

Who Unfollowed Me on Twitter App

  1. 1
Install Who Unfollowed Me on Twitter on your iPhone or iPad. This is a free and popular iPhone/iPad only app that makes it easy to see your recent unfollowers. You can get the app from https://apps.apple.com/us/app/who-unfollowed-me-on-twitter/id468155091 or by searching for "Who Unfollowed Me on Twitter" in the App Store.
  2. 2
Launch the app and sign in. Like other apps, you'll have to give this app permission to view and manage your tweets and profile. This is just so the app can see your unfollowers and allow you to unfollow people directly from the app.
  3. 3
Tap the refresh icon once signed in. It's the two curved arrows at the top-right corner. Now the app will show you your current followers, as well as a list of who you are following.
  4. 4
Tap Recently Unfollowed to see unfollowers. Since it's the first time you're using the app, you won't have any unfollowers yet. But the next time somebody unfollows you, you can head to the app, tap the refresh icon, and then you'll know who it was.

Method 4 of 5:

Unfollowspy

  1. 1
Go to https://www.unfollowspy.com. This is a free website that you can access on your computer, phone, or tablet to track the people who unfollow you.
  2. 2
Click Sign in with Twitter to sign in. Unfollowspy does require a bunch of read and write permissions to your Twitter account (like most of the other options), but it won't post to your timeline unless you give it permission to do so.
  3. 3
Set your preferences. Be sure to choose the option that does not give Unfollowspy permission to post your stats to your Twitter account if you don't want people to know you use the app.
  4. 4
Click Manage Users. It's at the top of the left panel.
  5. 5
Click Unfollowed. This is also in the left panel. The first time you log in, you won't have any unfollowers because tracking has just begun. Going forward, you can check back here to find your unfollowers as they happen.

Method 5 of 5:

Zebraboss

  1. 1
Go to https://www.zebraboss.com in a web browser. While Zebraboss isn't the most robust option, it's one of the few options we've found that doesn't require you to sign up or give it access to your Twitter account. Zebraboss works by sending you a daily email that contains a list of users who've unfollowed you.
    • Zebraboss is free as long as you have fewer than 1000 followers. If you have more followers than that, you can subscribe to the paid version.[3]
  2. 2
Type your Twitter username into the first box. Use either the “@yourtwittername” or https://twitter.com/wikiHow format.
    • Zebraboss also works for Facebook and Instagram, so you can also add your Instagram username and/or Facebook profile URL to the following lines.
  3. 3
Type your email address into the second box.
  4. 4
Click SUBSCRIBE FOR THE REPORT. You will receive an email once per day with a list of users who’ve unfollowed you.
    • Follow the “unsubscribe” link in the email at any time to stop using the service.

While Twitter doesn’t directly show you who’s unfollowed you, you can still find out using third-party websites and apps. One way to see your unfollowers is to visit who.unfollowed.me in a web browser, then sign in to the website with your Twitter account. Follow the prompts to give the website access to your Twitter data. Next, go to the top of the page and click the “Unfollowers” button. While you won’t see anyone who unfollowed you before you signed in to Who Unfollowed Me, any new unfollows will show up at the “Unfollowers” link from now on. Other websites that offer similar services include Unfollowspy and Zebraboss. If you don’t want to give a website direct access to your Twitter account, Zebraboss is a good option. All you need to do is provide your Twitter username or URL and an email address, and Zebraboss will send you a daily email with a list of people who have unfollowed you. You can also try using an app that tracks who follows or unfollows you, such as Unfollower Stats or Who Unfollowed Me on Twitter. Install the app on your phone or tablet, then follow the prompts to sign in with your Twitter account and let the app get access to your follower data. These apps typically have an “Unfollower” or “Recent Unfollows” section where you can find information about who has unfollowed you. They may also let you see other data, like who has recently started following you, or which users you follow who don’t follow you back.
