Do you ever wish it could always be night in Minecraft? Once you have a command block, a daylight sensor, and some redstone, you can use the time set command to turn off the daylight cycle. We'll show you how to battle on through the cold, dark night in Minecraft forever!
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 2:
Creative Mode
-
1Get a command block. You can't do this contraption without a command block. Type in the chat the command: /give (Minecraft Username) command_block
- Example: /give ottergirl24 command_block
-
2Get a daylight sensor. It's easy in creative mode-just simply press E and either search up the daylight sensor or find it in the "Redstone" tab.Advertisement

3Get some redstone. Press "E" and either search up redstone or find it in the "Redstone" tab.
-
4Place down the command block and the daylight sensor. You can place them both anywhere, but make it so that they can connect.
-
5Right-click the command block. Enter this command right here: /time set night.
-
6Connect the daylight sensor and the command block together using redstone. If you want to place them very far apart, use redstone repeaters to expand the amount of power you can have.
-
7Turn it to day and watch it work. Typing the command /time set day will activate the daylight sensor, powering the redstone and activating the command block, using the command /time set night to turn it back to night.

Method 2
Method 2 of 2:
Survival Mode
-
1Make a new world and turn on cheats. Command blocks are not craftable and therefore you need to use the command /give (minecraft username) command_block.
-
2Craft a daylight sensor. You can craft a daylight sensor by going into a crafting table, putting 3 glass blocks on top, 3 nether quartz in the middle, and 3 wooden slabs of any type on the bottom.
-
3Find redstone. You might need to dig a lot, but you only need a minimum of one piece, and there is no maximum.
-
4Place the command block and daylight sensor a minimum of one block apart.
-
5Right click the command block. Enter the command: /time set night.
-
6Place the redstone in between them and wait until day. It will turn back to night.

Community Q&A

QuestionIs there a way I can do this using only commands?Community AnswerYes, but only in relatively new versions of Minecraft. Simply execuse "/time set 21000" to set it to night and then "/gamerule doDaylightCycle false" to prevent your world from ever transitioning to day time.
-
QuestionCan I do this without cheats?Belle K.Top AnswererNo you cannot. Without cheats/commands you will be stuck with the standard day/night cycle.

Warnings
