This wikiHow will teach you how to create a server in CS:GO. First, you'll need to download a dedicated server application, then you can register for a game server login token so you can host a public server, and then you can start and play on your server.
Steps
Downloading and Installing the Dedicated Server Application
-
1Go to https://github.com/lenosisnickerboa/csgosl/releases in a web browser. This link will take you to an application on GitHub that makes creating and starting your own CS:GO server quick and simple.
-
2Click either appropriate csgol.zip download. If you're using a Windows computer, click to install "csgol-windows.zip" and if you're using Linux, select "csgol-linux.zip."Advertisement
-
3Unzip the downloaded file. Double-click the .ZIP file to open it, then drag and drop the files within to a new location, or select "Extract all" from the menu above the document in your file manager.
-
4Double-click the .VBS file. If your computer prompts if you want to run the file, click Open and I understand.
- You'll need to open this file every time you want to start a server, so you might want to create a shortcut for it on your desktop.
-
5Click Install Server. A console window will open in the background and start installing the necessary equipment to run the server.
-
6Restart the application. Once the server is installed, you'll want to restart the application by closing it and then reopening it.
-
7Click Start Server. You'll see this large tile to the left of the "Install Server" button.[1]
Hosting a Public Server
-
1Create a game server account on Steam. Go to http://steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers and log in to create a free game server account.
- To create a game server account, your account must not be currently banned, locked, or limited, and it must have a qualifying registered phone, own a copy of the game that you're creating a server for, and have under 1,000 game server accounts.
- You'll need a game server login token (GSLT) to give to others so they can sign in to your server without being on a local network. GSLT expires, so make sure you get a new one every once in a while.
-
2Enter the GSLT in Steam under the "gameserverlogintoken" field. If you don't enter this information correctly, people will have trouble connecting to your server. You can get a game server login token if you're hosting a server and created a game server account on Steam.[2]
- If you're planning to create a server for only your local network to use, refer to to Set Up A Counter Stike LAN Game.
