If you’re looking to recharge your body and soul, moon water tea might be just what you need. Modern astrologers and ancient religions alike have recognized lunar energy for its powerful cleansing and healing properties. Infuse water with moonlight and voila! You create a potent spiritual tonic that’ll help you set intentions and cleanse your energy. We’ll give you everything you need to know about moon water and a step-by-step guide to making moon water tea.
Steps
How to Make Moon Water Tea
-
1Fill a clean glass jar with water. Use distilled water or filtered water so you’re starting with a pure, cleansed base.[1] Any glass jar will do, as long as it’s clean and you can put a lid on it (to prevent dust and dirt from getting in).
-
2Add herbs, petals, or flavorings. This step is optional, but adding a few teaspoons of dried herbs or a few pinches of floral petals can enhance the benefits (and flavor) of your moon water tea. Though you’ll filter the herbs and petals out before you drink the tea, be sure that you’re only adding edible ingredients. Try out these ingredients to get started:
- Chamomile - for relaxation and peace
- Ginseng - for vitality and health[2]
- Lavender - to release anxiety and worry[3]
- Rose petals - for self-love and manifesting love
-
3Set the jar in the moonlight. Close up the jar and place it on a windowsill where it’ll get direct moonlight. You can even place the jar outside to get more exposure to the light of the moon.[4]
- If you’re creating moon water tea to cleanse bad energy, you can cleanse the space where you’ll put the jar by smudging the area.
-
4Surround the jar with crystals or sacred items. If you have crystals, cleanse them under running water for a few seconds. Then, place them in a grid around your jar to channel their energy towards your moon water tea.[5] Alternatively, put a few meaningful items around the jar, like a picture of people you love, a lucky coin, or a small souvenir from a trip back home.
- This step is optional, so don’t sweat it if you don’t have materials on hand to create a shrine for your moon water ritual.
- You can create a crystal grid in any shape. Just be sure to angle the points of your crystals towards the jar.
- Alternatively, you can drop a few water-safe crystals into the jar itself. Use crystals like quartz, amethyst, or jasper. Don’t use kyanite, hematite, or selenite because they’ll dissolve or rust in water.[6]
-
5Write an intention or affirmation down. Moon water can be a helpful tool to help you manifest. Use a pen and paper to jot down what you’re hoping to achieve or bring into your life. Write in the present tense, as if what you want is already unfolding. Then, place your piece of paper underneath the jar of moon water tea. Here are a few examples of intentions:
- “I compassionately love myself and I forgive myself.”[7]
- “I lift up those around me, and my life is full of light.”
- “Whatever I lose comes back to me. I’m grateful for my life.”
- “I open my heart to new opportunities and to the universe around me.”
-
6Speak your intention out loud. Vocalizing what you want allows you to send that energy out into the universe. More importantly, affirming yourself lets you keep your goals in mind, and it helps you let go of self-doubt.[8]
-
7Let the water charge overnight. Leave your moon water out until the sun comes up—it’s really that simple! In the morning when you wake up feeling refreshed, label the water with the date so you can remember the moon phase you charged it under.
- Store the moon water in the fridge if you used fresh herbs.
