Ever looked at that gorgeous, poised, smiling girl, and wondered, 'How do they do it?' There is no universally applicable ideal girl, so follow the steps in this article that appeal the most to you. Well, here is a step by step guide to be one of them!
Steps
Looking Your Best
-
1Practice good hygiene. Staying clean is an important part of looking your best. Shower each day, and be sure to wash your face, hair, and body. This will help you look and feel fresh.
- Put on deodorant each day. If one type of deodorant doesn't work for you, try a different kind. (For example, if stick deodorant doesn't help, try gel deodorant.)
- Brush and floss your teeth daily.
-
2Practice good posture. Stand up straight, with your feet straight under your shoulders. When walking, look straight ahead, with your shoulders down and comfortably back. Imagine a wire coming from your head to the sky which you must not bend or move. Sit up straight. If you can, sit all the way back on your chair, with your feet on the floor, and your back on the back of the seat.
- If you often come home feeling tight and sore around your neck and shoulders, take time to lie flat on the floor and stretch. Then lie upside-down on the sofa with your head pointing towards the ground. This will help elongate the spine and help to relieve the aches.
- Work on your posture, without obsessing. It's okay if you slouch or lean sometimes.

3Work on healthy eating habits. Instead of trying to follow a strict diet, find little ways to eat healthier. Think for a moment about making healthy choices when choosing meals and snacks.
- Try to fill at least 1/3 of your plate with fruits and vegetables.
- Avoid starvation or fad diets. These can hurt your health and your metabolism (even making you heavier). Eat when you're hungry.
- Make sure to drink lots of water. Try keeping a water bottle at your desk, and refilling it when it gets low.
-
4Show the world your smile. Smiling automatically makes you prettier, and a cheery disposition helps you look your best. If you're in a good mood, show it with a friendly smile.
- You don't have to constantly smile. If you're upset, you're allowed to express it. Nobody expects you to be positive all the time.
-
5Follow your own personal style. If you like to dress up, go for it. If you just want to be comfortable, that's okay too. The ideal girl is the one who chooses clothes that are appropriate to a situation and her mood, and not to what others tell her.
Acting Your Best
-
1Learn to love yourself. Loving yourself helps you be beautiful, and have a good attitude in life. Learn to accept yourself, quirks and all. Stop comparing yourself to others, and instead be the very best version of yourself that you can.
- Don't beat yourself up too much over your mistakes. Everyone messes up sometimes. It's most important that you learn from it, and keep doing your best.
-
2Exercise. You don't need to fork out on expensive gym memberships. You can run around the block, cycle to the local shop on errands, or get off the bus a stop early. Every little thing helps. See if you can get out in the fresh air, whether you're doing intense exercise or just taking a nice walk. You can invite someone you care about to come, too!
-
3Have fun. What do you love doing? Think about the activities that you enjoy, and try to do at least one of them each day.
-
4Spend time with people who uplift you. Choose people who understand you, who listen to you, and who you connect with. Friends (and more than friends) are what make you happy and successful, not jewelry or other accessories.
-
5Be kind to others. Make a habit of treating people with understanding, respect, and patience. Help them feel valued and supported. A caring, generous attitude can get you far in life.[1]
-
6Work hard in school. Study for exams, keep track of your homework, and start all your assignments early so that you don't have to rush. Working hard earlier on makes life easier later on when it comes to finding a job, paying the bills, and finding the romantic partner of your dreams.
-
7Find yourself a few talents. Find out what interests you, and work on it. Gaining mastery in a skill can feel really nice, and it's a good way to spend your time.
- Learn a language.
- Play an instrument, or sing.
- Learn to code.
- Write or draw.
-
8Be yourself. You don't have to change yourself, just because you've heard that being a certain way is "cool" or "ideal." Figure out what's true to you and what doesn't work for you, and stick with what feels right.
- Consider feedback before changing things. If someone thinks you should do something differently, consider whether you value their opinion, and whether they have a point. You don't have to do something just because someone else thinks you should.
-
9Give back. Try volunteering some of your time. To give back in smaller ways, help with tasks like chores, watching children, or tasks like building shelves or helping kids with homework. An ideal girl doesn't focus on herself all day and makes time to make others' lives better.
- Make sure to research charities before getting involved. Some, like PETA and Autism Speaks, tend to do more harm than good.
- Keep an eye on your energy. While it's good to help, you also shouldn't wear yourself down taking on too much. Remember to take care of your basic needs and get enough time to recharge when you need it. There's nothing ideal about exhausting yourself.
-
10Remember that what constitutes "ideal" is a matter of opinion. Your idea of "ideal" might be very different from somebody else's. So, you should try to be what you think is ideal—not what somebody else tells you is ideal.
