Toadette is one of the hidden racers in Mario Kart Wii. She is a Light-weight racer, making her agile behind the wheel. In order to unlock her, you'll need to have all of the tracks unlocked. Once you complete a Time Trial on each of these, Toadette will unlock.
Note: It used to be possible to unlock Toadette by winning 1,000 Nintendo WFC races, but that is no longer possible since Nintendo WFC has been shut down as of May 2014.
Steps
-
1Unlock all of the courses. In order to get Toadette, you'll need to complete a Time trial on each course. Before you can do that, you'll need to unlock all of the available Cups by completing Grand Prix events. If you're having problems beating the various Grand Prix events, see this guide for some tips on becoming a better racer.[1]
- Get 3rd place or better in the Mushroom and Flower Cups to unlock the Star Cup.
- Get 3rd place or better in the Shell and Banana Cups to unlock the Leaf Cup.
- Get 3rd place or better in the Star Cup to unlock the Special Cup.
- Get 3rd place or better in the Leaf Cup to unlock the Lightning Cup.
-
2Select "Time Trials" from the "Single Player" menu. Since Nintendo WFC has shut down, it is only possible to unlock Toadette by completing a Time Trial on all 32 courses.Advertisement
-
3Select any character and vehicle. You can use whichever character and vehicle combination you would like to complete the Time Trials.
-
4Select the first course of the first Cup and choose "Solo Time Trials". You don't have to beat any of the times or perform well, you just need to complete the Time Trial and set a time.
-
5Methodically work your way through each course. Make sure that you complete the Time Trial for each of the four courses in the Cup before moving on. This will ensure that you don't have to go back through and find a course that you skipped.
- Remember, you don't have to beat any of the times. Just make it to the end so that a time is recorded.
-
6Check each course to see if a time was set. When you move your cursor over a track, you'll see a time displayed in the lower-right corner. As long as it doesn't read "--:--:--", you've completed the Time Trial for that course.
-
7Quit the game completely and return to the Wii Home screen. You won't get notified that Toadette has been unlocked until you completely restart the game.[2]
-
8Start Mario Kart Wii and select your License. Once you've selected your License, you'll be notified that Toadette is now available to choose for all races.
- Make sure you select the same License that you completed all of the Time Trials on.
- Character unlocks only apply to the License that unlocked them.

-
QuestionCan you unlock Birdo while unlocking Toadette?Community AnswerYes, Birdo requires you to set times on 16 different time trials, so you will unlock Birdo when you are halfway finished with Toadette.
-
QuestionIt did not work, even thought I have completed all the time trials. Did I do something wrong?Community AnswerSometimes there will be a glitch in the game where the notification may not show. Try pressing the reset button on your Wii, going to the Wii menu and back to the game again, or shutting off the console, removing and reinserting the disk, and accessing the game again. As long as the game resets, you should get it.
