Although most Lyft riders request single-stop rides, it's possible to request multiple stops. This wikiHow will explain how to do it.
Steps
-
1Open and log in to your Lyft app. The icon is usually pink and white with "Lyft" in stylized, small letters.
-
2Begin a request. Tap into the Search destination box, and type in your pickup location in your "Start" location. If you need help and would rather move the pin around on the map, tap the "Set on map" button after tapping the current location for the start line.Advertisement
-
3Make sure the Lyft app is ready to schedule the second stop prior to entry. Tap the "+" sign to the right of the "End" line. This will open up another stop and change "End" to become "Via" and create a second stop now marked "End".
-
4Add your first stop. Type your first stop into the line marked "Via". Much like you did for Pickup line entry, type in where you'd like to go first either by typing the address or name of the place into the box. If you'd rather move a pin on a street map instead, tap the "Set on map" and tweak the pin.
-
5Set the location of your second stop into the "End" line. Again, for the second and final stop, enter either the name or address of the location into the box and tap the entry that best matches the location.tap this entry's "Add destination" button and set the destination much like you did the first.
-
6Ensure you request the right car type for your number of passengers. Cars with more seats are designated as the "Lyft XL" service, and for an even higher end ride, Lyft Lux can get you a more luxurious ride too. Not all Lyft cities have all of these services yet, though.
-
7Ensure your payment account (listed below the types of services available) has the funds or credit needed to pay for the ride. You will find your price next to the Lyft car type, above your pickup location and payment option. If you spotted the Current Location marker for screen position on the map, the price will be just below this button.
-
8Tap the "Select Lyft" button to send the request to the next step.
-
9Ensure you can confirm the pickup spot is where your current location is. Once found, tap the "Confirm Pickup". Doing so, will send your request to find your nearby drivers for your ride.

QuestionHow long does it take Lyft to arrive to pick me up after the first request?ChristopherTop AnswererThat depends on where your driver is coming from. Your app will show you the map and tell you how long it will take for your driver to get to your location. Lyft drivers get requests from as much as 30 minutes away; however, most won't be more than 10 - 15 minutes, so just be patient!
-
QuestionI have to pick up two people at different addresses. Can I do that?ChristopherTop AnswererYes. The reason for the multiple stops isn't necessary. As long as the destinations are right, the amount of people you are picking up won't exceed the amount the car can hold and you let your driver know that you are intending to come back, your driver shouldn't have a problem withing picking people up at different addresses. Input away!
-
QuestionCan I indicate the time frame I need to be within at the first stop?ChristopherTop AnswererNo. It takes time for a driver to arrive and pick you up then drive and drop you off, and none of the rideshare services have that type of feature. Although Lyft pings the closest driver in order of distance and time away, they give their drivers pings from as far away as 30 minutes (but not all will be that far away). Be patient! If you think there's another driver closer who is free but isn't showing up, cancel the current ride and re-request, but if not, contact your driver and explain your reasoning for the certain time frame.
