Do you want to equip bait to your fishing rod in Stardew Valley? Whether you play on PC, mobile, or console, you'll be able to attach bait in a few clicks. You must have either a Fiberglass Rod or Iridium Rod to use bait as you fish. Depending on the bait, fish can bite faster, more frequently, or you can find more treasure. This wikiHow will show you how to attach all types of bait to your fishing rod in Stardew Valley on your computer, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, iPhone, or Android.

Things You Should Know

You can only equip bait on a Fiberglass Rod or Iridium Rod.
On PC, open your Inventory. Left-click your bait, then right-click your fishing rod to attach it.
On console, select your bait. Press the "Use Tool" button to attach the bait to your rod.

Load your save file in Stardew Valley. Stardew Valley is available on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. On the home screen, tap Load to load an existing save file.

Open your Inventory. Press either ESC or E to open your inventory. By default, you'll be on the left-most tab. If you aren't, click the backpack icon.
- When it comes to fishing in Stardew Valley, you can utilize bait to increase your catch rate.

Left-click your bait. You can use any kind of bait: standard Bait, a Magnet, Wild Bait, or Magic Bait. This will select the entire bait stack.
- If you want to select only a single bait, right-click the bait.

Right-click your fishing rod. With the bait selected, you'll need to right-click a Fiberglass Rod or Iridium Rod. This will attach the bait to your rod.
- To detach bait, right-click your fishing rod again.
- Bait will be used automatically when you successfully capture a fish.
- When the fishing rod runs out of bait, you'll see the pop-up notification: You've used your last piece of bait.

- Use the right or left trigger to navigate to the backpack icon.

Load your save file in Stardew Valley on your Android, iPhone, or iPad. On the home screen, tap Load to load an existing save file.

Tap ☰. This can be found in the top-right corner, underneath your Gold.

Tap your bait. You can attach any kind of bait: standard Bait, a Magnet, Wild Bait, or Magic Bait. This will select a single bait if you have multiple in a stack.
- To select multiple bait, press and hold the bait until you have the desired amount.

Drag and drop the bait onto your fishing rod. You must have either a Fiberglass Rod or Iridium Rod. This will attach the bait to your rod.
- Bait will be used automatically when you successfully capture a fish.
- When the fishing rod runs out of bait, you'll see the pop-up notification: You've used your last piece of bait.

Types of Bait

Bait. This is the standard fishing bait. When used, fish will bite faster.
- Standard Bait can be obtained from Willy's Fish Shop, a Worm Bin, or crafted at Fishing Level 2.

Magnet. The Magnet is best used if you want to find more treasure when you fish. This bait will increase your chances of finding treasure by 15%, but it won't affect the bite rate of regular fish.
- The Magnet can be purchased from Willy's Fish Shop on the pier for 1,000g, or you can craft it with Iron Bars at Fishing Level 9.

Wild Bait. With this type of bait, players are able to capture two fish at once, excluding Legendary Fish.
- The Wild Bait recipe is gifted by Linus following the 4-heart event. You'll need Mug Meat, Slime, and Fiber to craft a bundle of five Wild Bait.

Magic Bait. This type of bait allows players to catch fish regardless of season, time of day, or weather. You'll be able to capture any type of fish without having to wait for the perfect time.
- To gain access to Magic Bait, players will need to gain access to Qi's Walnut Room. You can buy Magic Bait or the recipe to create it in exchange for Qi gems.
