Ever wanted to achieve the legendary rip-off form of the Super Saiyan known as Super Sonic for Sonic and friends in the Sonic the Hedgehog games? Then follow this guide to learn how. These steps will work for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Mania, Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations, and finally Sonic Lost World.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 4:
Classic 2D Sonic Games
-
1Collect 50 or more rings in any stage. Hold on to these rings until you reach a star post.
-
2Find a special stage. After passing by the star post and saving your progress on the level, a group of spinning stars will hover over the post. These stars will allow you to enter a special stage.Advertisement
-
3Enter the special stage. Jump inside the save post to enter into an alternate dimension with a special stage. Follow the rules of the stage to beat it properly.
-
4Complete the special stage to receive a Chaos Emerald. You will have to finish the stage without losing or messing up too much in order to receive this emerald; if you die or do poorly on the level, you won't be able to win it.
-
5Repeat these steps to acquire the six remaining Chaos Emeralds. Enter and complete six more special stages, finishing them well and without dying or messing up. After each one, you should receive another Chaos Emerald, so keep going until you have all seven.
-
6Become Super Sonic. Go back into a normal stage after you have successfully collected all 7 Chaos Emeralds. Grab 50 rings, and then either jump or double jump to become Super Sonic!

Method 2
Method 2 of 4:
Early 3D Sonic Games
-
1Acquire all seven Chaos Emeralds. Each specific game has its own design, plot, and rules, so you'll have to proceed differently for each. Figure out how you acquire the Chaos Emeralds, looking up instructions or video walkthroughs if you need help. Collect all seven before you proceed.
-
2Become Super Sonic. Once you get all seven Chaos Emeralds, you will watch a cutscene in which you see Sonic transform into Super Sonic!
-
3Defeat the final boss, if necessary. Depending on your game, you may have to perform this last challenge once you have become Super Sonic. However, this only applies to Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, and Sonic Unleashed.

Method 3 of 4:
Later 3D Sonic Games
-
1Know whether this method applies to your game. It only works for Sonic Colors and Sonic Lost World, although the last step can apply to Sonic Generations.
-
2Collect all the Red Star rings in each level in the game. Either grab these rings when they're sitting in plain sight, or use alternate routes and special items where necessary.
-
3Collect all seven Chaos Emeralds. Do this by beating all the levels in the special stages or extra game mode, or just beat the final boss to collect all seven.
-
4Become Super Sonic. Collect 50 rings. Then jump in the air and press the power-up button (this button varies with each controller and/or console). You will become Super Sonic!

Method 4
Method 4 of 4:
Spin-Off Games
-
1If you are playing Super Smash Bros Brawl or Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, then follow these steps. Simply hit the Smash Ball multiple times until Sonic emits out a glowing aura of light; press the special move button to transform!
-
2If you are playing Sonic R, then follow this simple step. Collect all 7 Chaos Emeralds scattered throughout the tracks and then play as Sonic to become super.
-
3If you are playing Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, then follow this step. If you are really falling behind or just absolutely suck at the game, then you will get the All-Star move as an item. Activate it to become super and boost through the tracks!
