Since jobs in healthcare are easy to find and expected to be plentiful well into the future, becoming a patient care technician (PCT) is a great career choice. PCT's assist doctors, nurses, and other medical staff in monitoring, caring for, and generating status reports for patients. You may be able to achieve your PCT certification in less than a year, and PCTs earn an average of $25,000 to $30,000 per year depending upon region, training, and experience.^{[1]

The nice thing is that you are over halfway there to becoming a CNA. If you want to get your PCT certificate, you will likely have to take a course through a community college or vocational school. You’ll need to find out if you have to repeat the parts of the curriculum that you’ve already completed as a CNA as well as for phlebotomy. Some hospitals may hire you as a PCT with your qualifications and provide on-the-job training.
