Politics, like religion, can be influential, and often controversial -- impacting many areas of life, yet people say that discussing politics is private like some abnormality, or taboo topic. That is not logical and is not the conservative view: Go ahead and discuss politics with people who want to, but don't force people to talk politics with you if they don't want to. No matter where you reside, conservative virtues can play a large part in your outlook on life. Be happy about those things, publicly... It is involving and engaging. Be proud and passionate about your point of view.

Learn about conservatives whether you think you might agree or disagree with them. Watch the news, read books on differing views, go on their websites. Nobody will take you seriously if you don't know the details on issues, or for whom you are voting. Be informed. Conservative conduct with good morals, lowering government spending and maintaining freedom while avoiding riotous and wild living are all conservative ideals.

Speak about and defend your decisions on issues nicely. Find several issues you believe in, and discuss them intelligently when the conversation turns to politics.

Think about what being a conservative means to you. Why did you choose this over other political ideals or topics? What makes your side's pro-growth economics and life issues better than the rest?

Be ready to support candidates who believe as you do. Do you want to support the conservative words found on the money in the USA, In God We Trust, and such candidates as have pro-life beliefs? Those are not just words, but can be important concepts. They may be forgotten, opposed or taken for granted as a "slogan" or "private matters" by more liberal people, but you can seek a candidate who stands and honors your rights such as freedom of speech.

Stay unprejudiced—be fair minded. If there is an alleged conservative scandal, don't dismiss it by saying, "Oh, they wouldn't do that!". Likewise, don't immediately assume a scandal on the opposite side is true as well. Get the facts first.

Be aware of current good news and events and the trends of legislation and court decisions that may badly affect the conservative way of life.
- Some things seem like simply personal choices, but they may degrade/degenerate into no choice for the next generation (as it becomes "settled".).

Listen thoughtfully and carefully to people. Don't get riled up listening to other speak. As American society tends to swing more to the left, so people will try to deride anything conservative while conveniently omitting the positive aspects of certain ideals. It's important to learn to defend your views intelligently. Every political system has problematic areas that need changing, but work for improvements, not lowering of standards.

Don't let other people's opinions sway your ideals. Examine and stay true to your decisions and point of view.

Don't be afraid of improvements. Despite the earlier steps, if you think conservatives have not improved enough for your liking, feel free to get involved; adopt other views or support and vote for your ideals.

Stand up for political or religious absolutes, tell the "Truth" and support traditional ideals, with traditional family values, with freedom from oppression by government. In all things, you have many reasons for being a proud conservative.

Being a Centrist means rejecting any form of partisan thought. It would be a better idea to be a moderate: those who have set political beliefs, but can change their positions without disrupting their other stances.

Lastly, don't forget that you can still be conservative while supporting liberal views or other political views. Your dominant views or majority of your views can be conservative for you to be classified as conservative. Being conservative should not mean you encourage wrong ideas and unfair policies just because it has been that way in tradition, for instance, forcing females to be against abortion. Part of being intelligent and maintaining moral values is discarding wrong ideas that have been practiced in history and keeping right ideas. Whatever your political ideas are, always support what is right and just, which is the ultimate goal of law.
