The weekend's finally here, and you're so excited to get a break from school and clubs. A typical weekend is two days long, so it's not a lot of time to do fun stuff. Because it's only two days long, you should spend it wisely and make the most of it. You could spend all your weekend doing fun stuff, or you could spend all your weekend being practical and doing things that you need to do or finish. Here are some ways to spend your weekend!

Method 1 of 3:

Doing Fun Activities Indoors

  1. 1
Play fun board games. There are endless possibilities for games that you can play during the weekend. Play classic board games such as Connect 4, Monopoly, Sorry!, Yahtzee, Candyland, and Chutes and Ladders to game your night away! Fun, interactive games such as Pie Face! keep you engaged all weekend long. Card games like Go Fish, Cards Against Humanity, Uno, and Exploding Kittens are also cool options to keep you and your family entertained.
    • If you're younger, choose board games such as Candyland, Connect 4, or Operation, as these games are easier to understand. You don't want to be studying the rules and spending a whole day understanding them, right? That would waste your weekend and tire your brain out.
  2. 2
Play with your toys. Your toys are your best friends if you want company during the weekend! Especially if you're an only child, you may rely on your toys for a source of comfort and trust. As kids with no siblings don't have people the same age that they can talk to, they usually have imaginary friends or toys that they can play with.
    • Now is the time to finally get out your train set, awesome Transformers, American Girl dolls, Legos, Hot Wheels, Barbies, LOL dolls, and/or your Shopkins out of your toy chest!
    • Role-play adventure scenarios with your toys, such as a superhero (or superheroes) saving people or animals from danger or Barbies exploring in a jungle. You could also pretend normal scenarios, such as My Little Pony’s going to school or Lego people shopping in a supermarket.

  3. 3
Free draw. The weekend's a brilliant time to work on your drawing skills. No matter if you're an expert at drawing, anyone can draw creatively anytime. Your drawings are not "uglier" or "worse" than your friends' or your classmates' drawings. Focus on having fun instead of negatively comparing your art to others' art.
    • If you're having trouble thinking of what to draw, look around your room and the world around you. Look outside and draw the trees in your neighborhood, houses, your pet dog, your friends, a made-up story, a comic strip, etc.
  4. 4
Dance to fun songs. If you still have a ton of energy and aren't tired from the long school week, dancing can tire you out! Search up random songs on a music website like YouTube. Search up "popular kids songs" if you want to hear the latest hits. You could also center your search on a theme, like "Halloween songs", "holiday tunes", or "summer melodies". Turn autoplay on so you don't have to keep clicking on the next song for it to play. This way, you can continually dance until you tire out!
    • Don't worry about how amazing or terrible your dance skills are; this is supposed to be a fun activity, and you're not dancing for a dance competition or anything.
  5. 5
Sing your heart out. This is similar to the dancing activity, except that you sing along with the songs instead of dancing to them. If you feel like singing more than dancing, sing to your favorite songs. Search up random songs on a music website like YouTube. Search up "popular kid’s songs" if you want to hear the latest hits. You could also center your search on a theme, like "Halloween songs", "holiday tunes", or "summer melodies". You could also search up your favorite songs if you have any.
    • Make sure to take breaks between songs, as your throat will hurt and become sore if you continue to sing. Drink liquids in between songs and take a break from singing for the day after 20-30 minutes.
  6. 6
Watch videos. The internet is a huge place, and you can find anything you want on it; from games to social media, news, and education. Binge-watch a lot of videos that you like, but don't do this too often (as it'll ruin your eyes). Watch videos from your favorite creators or watch some videos from new channels. Look at the news using a video site; YouTube is a popular choice.
    • Remember to take breaks every 20 minutes; do not watch YouTube for 5 hours straight or even 2 hours straight! That will damage your eyes and make you addicted to watching videos, which isn't good for your health.
  7. 7
Play computer games. There are so many options when it comes to the world of games; from first-person shooter games to classics such as Pong or Minesweeper, there's a game meant to fit you out there. You could play online games such as the Dinosaur game, 2408, Wordle, or Skribbl.io. PC games are also an option- Minecraft, Roblox, Stardew Valley, and Fortnite are cool PC games that you can play. [1] Using consoles from brands like Nintendo and PlayStation are also neat ways to entertain yourself during the weekend.
    • Again, make sure you take breaks from your computer! Staring at a screen with moving graphics can damage your eyes over many years. Sometimes, when you play video games, you get all hunched up or slouch in your chair. This is not good posture, and it can lead to back problems later on too.
  8. 8
Invite your friends and classmates over to your house. If you're feeling lonely and bored, why not invite your best friends to your house? That way you'll have a lot of company. Plan out activities that you'll do beforehand (especially if it's a birthday party) or go with the flow and think of what to do during the event.
    • Play with toys together, act out a scenario, draw, dance, or play video games with each other to have a blast! Get some snacks too, as you'll be hungry after a couple of hours.

Doing Fun Activities Outdoors

  1. 1
Go in your front yard or backyard. If you can't travel far, going in your front yard or backyard's a nice idea. Even though it's smaller than a park or another outdoor area, you can still get some fresh air. Go out your door to your front or backyard to walk around and run. You can also play outdoor games if you have enough space.
    • Play frisbee in your front or backyard. You could also play tag or catch.
    • Lie down on the grass and relax! This is a spectacular idea, especially if it's nighttime. Look at the stars and the sky from the floor. Maybe you'll see a few planes (if you live near an airport) or even a shooting star!
  2. 2
Walk to your nearby park. If your house is literally right next to the park, you may not need adult supervision. Otherwise, if you have to cross a street or road to get to the park, let a guardian take you there. In all cases, you'll need to ask your parent or guardian first, as they have the responsibility to make sure that you are safe.
    • Take your pet with you to the park! That way, they can also get some exercise and fresh air.
    • Run around the park and jump around to get some exercise! You could also go onto the play structures. Slide on the slides, run up the stairs to the slides, glide down the corkscrew climber, climb the rope ladder, and swing on the swings!
  3. 3
Take a small road trip. If you want to go somewhere further than your local ice cream store or park, ask your guardians to take you on a road trip. Go to a mall, outlet, or park that is slightly farther than your house. The drive there should take around 20-40 minutes for it to be considered a small road trip. You could also visit a zoo, museum, or another educational place.
    • If your school's far away, you could even ask to be driven to and from it. If you're in a public school, your school may be too close for the drive to be 20-40 minutes long, as your school will be in your school district (an area surrounding your home).
  4. 4
Go out in bad weather. Of course, don't go outside in dangerous weather such as if the weather's 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) or below [2] or extremely humid and hot weather warmer than 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32.2 degrees Celsius). [3] . You also shouldn't go outside during a lightning storm, a blizzard, or a natural disaster such as a hurricane. But, if the weather's mild and it's just lightly raining or snowing, go outside!
    • Splash in puddles on the street and enjoy the relaxing rain! If you're in the car, count how many raindrops are falling on your car window.
    • Have a snowball fight if it's snowing and try to build large snowmen. You could also build a snow hill and slide down from it.

Doing Productive Things

  1. 1
Finish weekend homework. If you have weekend homework from school, an extracurricular activity, or not doing your school homework on the weekdays, finish it on the weekend. Sure, you may just want to relax after a long week of learning at school. But, if you put it off, you may forget about it and get a bad grade if you don't turn things in on time. Your parents will see this and think of you as a kid who can't manage their time wisely. Time management skills are useful since they make your schedule more organized and allow you to finish tasks on time.
    • Homework may be boring, but you should still finish it.
  2. 2
Get a head start on projects for school. If you've been told about a big project like a science fair report or an art project, try to get started as early as possible. Don't wait until the last days to do it, as you'll rush and make many mistakes along the way. This will affect your grade, as projects usually take up a large chunk of your grade and will be graded more harshly than homework and classwork. If it's a project that can't be done in a week, opt to do most of it on the weekend.
    • Buy the supplies you'll need right after the day that your teacher talks about the project.
    • Start researching topics related to your project for the next week or so.
  3. 3
Study for tests. Large tests such as midterms or finals may be coming up, which require you to study for more days. To make the most of your weekend, try to study for 15-30 minutes for the whole week (Sunday-Saturday). Large tests often cover everything that you've learned so far (for example, from the first day of school to the end of the term or the day after winter break to the last day of school), so you will need more time to study more topics.
    • Don't try to cram 2 hours of content into one session. Instead, spread it out over 3-7 days of studying. 120 minutes (2 hours) can be divided into 4 30-minute chunks of studying, which means that you can study 30 minutes for 4 days.
