This wikiHow teaches you how to stop sharing video in a Skype meeting using the desktop app for Windows and macOS. You have the option to turn your camera off before joining or hosting a meeting as well as during the meeting.
Steps

1Open Skype. It has a blue icon with a white "S." Click the Skype icon in the Windows Start menu on Windows, or the Applications folder on Mac to open Skype.
- If you are not currently signed into Skype, sign in with the email address and password associated with your Skype or Microsoft account.

2Click Chats or Call. You can host or join a video meeting under either the "Chats" or "Calls" menu, which you'll find at the top of the menu in the left panel. "Chats" has an icon that resembles a speech bubble. The "Calls" button has an icon that resembles an old-fashioned phone.Advertisement

3Click Meet Now. It's in the upper-right corner in the menu to the left. This displays a drop-down menu.

4Click Host a meeting or Join a meeting. If you want to start a meeting that you are the host of, click Host a meeting. If you are joining a meeting that somebody else is hosting, click Host a meeting.

5Enter a meeting title or enter the invite code or link. If you are hosting a meeting, enter a title for the meeting in the text field that says "What is this meeting about." If you are joining, enter the invite code or meeting link in the field that says "Meeting link or code." It should have been provided to you by the host.

6Click the toggle switch next to the camera icon. You have the option to turn off your camera before you start or join the meeting. To turn off the camera before the meeting starts, click the toggle switch next to the icon that resembles a camera. It's at the bottom of the video screen on the right.
- Additionally, you can click the toggle switch next to the microphone to turn off your microphone audio.

7Click Start Meeting or Join. If you are hosting a meeting, click the blue button that says Start Meeting. If you are joining a meeting, click the blue button that says Join.

8Click the camera icon. During a meeting, you can toggle the camera on and off by clicking the icon that resembles a video camera at the bottom of the video screen. When the camera is off, the icon will be black and have a line through it. When the camera is on, the icon will be white.
- You can also turn your microphone on or off by clicking the icon that resembles a microphone icon.
