When you only have a four or five minute break between classes, it can be tough to get from class to class and you sure don't need your locker opening and closing slowing you down. Sometimes you have to go from one building, to your locker, and back to that building just because you just can't fit everything you need into your bag. Here are a few ways to save precious time by rigging your locker to give you a few extra seconds to hurry to class.

Understanding Rigging

Method 2
Method 2 of 4:

Using the Classical Rig

  1. 1
    Dial in your combination.
  2. 2
Hold the opener. Once you have your locker open, be sure to hold up the lever and don't let go of it.
  3. 3
Twist the combination lock to the left. Open it.
  4. 4
Open the locker each time without dialing in the combo. Next time you need to use your locker, all you need to do is push up the lever. No need to put in your combination.
  5. 5
Done. Now your locker is rigged.
  6. 6
To un-rig, open your locker. Look behind the lock and you will find a black metal bar that is pushed up.
  7. 7
Push that bar down. Now you can close your locker. Spin the locker to the right about three times. The locker is now properly locked again.

Method 3 of 4:

Using a Pencil Rig

  1. 1
    Put in your combination.
  2. 2
Hold up the lever. Once you have your locker open, be sure to hold up the lever.
  3. 3
Find the metal bar. With the lever still pushed up, look inside. You'll see the metal bar directly behind the combination lock.
  4. 4
Insert the pencil. Above the metal thing, there should be a piece of metal with a hole in it. Put a pencil in the hole.
    • Use a pencil that you don't really need. Another student or staff member might find your locker rigged and take the pencil.
  5. 5
Let go of the lever. Now your locker is rigged.
