If you have an older Android, the newest version of the Netflix app may not be compatible. This wikiHow will teach you how to download an older version of the Netflix app if you have an Android between versions 4.4 (Kit-Kat) and 7.1.2 (Nougat). However, if you have an iPhone or iPad that's running into similar issues, you can redownload Netflix if you've already "purchased" it on your iPhone or other Apple device. If you have never downloaded Netflix before, update your iOS to 11 or later (every generation of devices after 2012 is compatible with the update), which you'll be able to do in Settings > General > Software Update.^{[1]

Uninstall the Netflix app you have from your Android. Tap and hold the app icon (on either one of your Home screens or in the app drawer) and tap Uninstall or the trashcan icon.

Open Settings
. You can either tap the gear app icon to open the app or tap the gear in your Quick Settings panel when you swipe down from the top of your screen.

Allow downloading from outside sources. If Security is listed, tap that, and select "Unknown Sources: Allow installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store." Otherwise, tap Apps > ⋮ > Special access > Install unknown apps.

Go to https://netflixhelp.s3.amazonaws.com/netflix-4.16-200217-release.apk in a web browser on your Android. The website will open and close to indicate that the download has started.

Tap the downloaded file. You should get a notification when the download is complete.

Tap Install. A window will pop-up when you tap the file asking if you want to install an old file.
