This wikiHow will teach you how to save your Scratch project to a local or online drive. The steps are similar in the Windows and macOS clients as well as the web-based version of Scratch.

Steps

  1. 1
Open Scratch. You can open the Windows client from the Start Menu, the Mac client that's in the Applications folder, or you can launch the web version from https://scratch.mit.edu and log in.
    • If you don't have an account, you won't be able to save your Scratch online. You can make a free account by going to that website and clicking Join.
  2. 2
Click the File tab. It's at the top of your screen.

  3. 3
Click Save now or Save to your computer. Your Scratch will save in the folder that your Scratch.exe is located inside. If you don't have a Scratch account or aren't logged in, you won't see the option to Save now.[1]

The reason it won't save is because these aren't the actual steps. To actually save the project, click on the 'Save Now' button at the top right. It will automatically save every five minutes anyway.
