This wikiHow teaches you how to return your Fitbit Charge or Charge HR to its original factory settings. Resetting your Fitbit will delete all of your stored data, including the information that hasn't yet synced with your online account.

Steps

  1. 1
Connect the Fitbit Charge to a USB power source. Plug one end of a USB cable into the port on your Fitbit, and then other into any power source (including computer).
    • If you just want to restart your Fitbit without deleting all of your data, just hold the button down for 10-12 seconds until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. Lift your finger from the button at that point and then remove the Fitbit from the charger.[1]
  2. 2
Press and hold the button on the Fitbit while removing the cable. Hold the button down for about 2 seconds before removing the cable, and then continue holding the button down for an additional 7 to 9 seconds before releasing it.

  3. 3
Press and hold the button until you see "ALT" on the screen. You can release the button once that word appears and the screen flashes white.
  4. 4
Press and hold the button until you feel a vibration. Release the button as soon as the Fitbit vibrates.
  5. 5
Press and hold the button until you see "ERROR." Again, release the button once you see this message on the screen.
  6. 6
Press and hold the button until you see "ERASE." When you let go of the button, the Fitbit will turn off.
  7. 7
Turn the Fitbit back on. You can do this by pressing the button once or by connecting it to a power source. The time on the Fitbit should now read 0:00.
  8. 8
Set up your Fitbit as new. You can do this in the Fitbit app by tapping the Account icon (the one that looks like an ID card) and selecting Set Up a Device.
