Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups old fashioned oatmeal
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 apple, cored and chopped (don't peel)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • chopped walnuts (optional)
  • raisins, dried cranberries, or both!
  • cinnamon

    Assemble ingredients.

    Mix egg and oatmeal in a bowl to coat oatmeal thoroughly.

    Heat butter in large frying pan.

    Sauté apples.

    When the butter is sizzling, add oatmeal/egg mixture.

    Brown oatmeal until oats are separated, and toasty looking. Stir constantly.
