Do you love oatmeal but want an alternative to a bowl of hot mush for breakfast? You and yours will love this easy one-pan hot breakfast. As they shovel down the last mouthful of the second helping they'll pause and ask, "What's in this? It's really good!"
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups old fashioned oatmeal
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 apple, cored and chopped (don't peel)
- 2 to 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- chopped walnuts (optional)
- raisins, dried cranberries, or both!
- cinnamon
Steps

1Assemble ingredients.

2Mix egg and oatmeal in a bowl to coat oatmeal thoroughly.Advertisement

3Heat butter in large frying pan.

4Sauté apples.

5When the butter is sizzling, add oatmeal/egg mixture.

6Brown oatmeal until oats are separated, and toasty looking. Stir constantly.

7When oats are brown, dump in sugar, raisins, walnuts.

8Sprinkle with cinnamon.

9Add water. It will sizzle and steam and sound awesome. Stir until water is absorbed.

10Serve immediately.
