Wanna watch your favorite shows when your parents stay up late or check on you in your room every 5 minutes? Here's how.

Method 1
Method 1 of 4:

Sneaking Out

  1. 1
Find out what time the late night show comes on.
  2. 2
Stay up late, or sleep until then and set your clock for ten. If you plan on setting your clock, stick your head and the clock under the pillow so only you hear it. If not, just pretend you're asleep when your parents come out of their room.

  3. 3
Turn the TV down low so your parents don't hear the sounds of the TV and then wonder "What is going on in there?" You can imagine the rest.
  4. 4
Use channel return. When the show you want is on, turn to a channel that you watch during the day, then turn directly to the program. Then hit channel return on the remote and it should turn back to the other channel with the push of a button. This way you can quickly flip between the two shows if your mom comes in your room.
  5. 5
Flip between the two channels when needed and have fun!
  6. 6
Always have a "kid show" ready for if you hit the previous button so if your mom/dad comes in you can just hit the button and it will come on. Then you can say you "just couldn't fall asleep so decided to watch some TV to make you sleepy" and your parents won't get mad because they'll think you're watching something childish and appropriate.

Method 3 of 4:

Catching Replays

  1. 1
Find out if the episode has replays. Most episodes replay at various times, so you might not have to stay up. If they do, you can watch it then.
  2. 2
Find out if anyone has put the episode on YouTube or on your program's webpage. You can then stream it to your TV if you want a big view.

Method 4 of 4:

Going Online

  1. 1
Search for episodes on the internet.
  2. 2
Surf Google to find which episode you want to see, then search under Google videos, or try YouTube.
  3. 3
One of the most simple things to do is just go on a website on the internet and watch it there. Then delete ALL of your history. If the show has subtitles, watch it without the volume or put the volume really low so you can hear if your parents are coming. When they do come in, pretend to be doing homework.
    • Be cautious about using headphones/earbuds. If your parents walk in and see what you are watching, you wouldn't have been able to realize they were there until it's too late. But you could pretend you were watching an educational video.

Community Q&A

  • Question
How do I do it when my parents are in the room?

Is the TV already on when they're in the living room? If yes, sneak behind the couch and watch it there, if you can see it from that angle. You can't change the channel without your parents noticing, so if they are watching boring news or stuff you are uninterested in, there's nothing you can do about it. If it's not turned on, don't turn the TV on because they will notice and you will get caught.

How can I sneak out if my parents have closed the door of my room and they sleep next to my room?

If they notice you sneaking out, then just say you had to pee, or get a drink of water. When they go back to bed, sneak out once you're sure they're fast asleep. Make sure to move very quietly though, and tip-toe with socks if the floor is wooden or tiled.
