Grilled cheese is an American classic and a staple dish for many because it’s easy to make and the results are so delicious! The traditional stovetop technique works great, but using the toaster oven is even easier and requires very little clean up. Toasted grilled cheese sandwiches are also healthier than the grilled variety, since you won’t need to use as much butter.
Ingredients
- 2 slices of your favorite bread
- 2 teaspoons of butter, softened
- 2 slices (about 1.5 ounces) of provolone cheese (or the cheese of your choice)

- 1 small bunch of Swiss chard, sliced and washed
- 2 slices of whole-wheat bread
- 1 slice (1 ounce) of Swiss cheese (preferably lower-sodium)

1Preheat the oven to 450 °F (232 °C) and put the baking sheet inside. Set the toaster oven’s temperature to 450 °F (232 °C) and move the cooking rack into the lowest position. Then, put a baking sheet on the rack and let it preheat along with the oven.[1]
