If you are wanting to try a new variety of ramen, curious, or just want some Korean style ramen, read on to find out how to make a cheap, simple meal that will fill you up.
Ingredients
- 1 package instant ramen
- 2 cup water
- A pinch garlic powder
- A pinch chilli powder
- A pinch pepper
- Green onion
- Toppings (spam, hot dogs, seaweed, egg etc.)
Steps
-
1Get your favorite type of ramen. Use Samyang or Nong Shim, or any Korean brand for authenticity. Cheaper, thinner deep-fried noodles such as Top Ramen are not recommended.
-
2Boil about 2 cups of water, more or less if you like plenty of soup base or little.Advertisement
-
3(Optional) Add a pinch of garlic powder, pepper, chili pepper to water.
-
4Snap the ramen noodles in half and add them in with any leftover flakes, this makes it easier to stir and boil faster.
-
5Add soup base and vegetables that come packaged after you put the ramen in.
-
6Stir frequently. You don't want the flavor to bunch up in one place, or the noodles to get stuck to the pot.
-
7Add anything you find that will be good to the ramen! Favorites are: Spam, cut-up hot dogs, dried salted seaweed, and egg. A squeeze of lime really helps bring up the flavor of the broth a bit. Don't forget to add green onion; as it gives the ramen a fresh taste.
-
8Pour into a bowl, serve with chopsticks and enjoy with your favorite kimchi or banchan!

QuestionCan I use maggi noodles for this?Community AnswerYes, you can. Any instant noodle works if you're only looking for Korean-style. But if you want it to taste like the actual Korean ramen then no, you'll have to get actual Korean ramen like nongshim or samyang brand.
-
QuestionCan I still use top ramen even though its not recommended?Silly SongbirdCommunity AnswerYou can use whatever ramen you can find. You make it Korean style by adding toppings, green onion etc.
-
QuestionI live in Fredricksburg, Pennsylvania, where can I get ramen?Community AnswerYou can get ramen at almost any grocery story. I suggest looking in the canned soups section. If you can't find any in that section, look in the international food section. It is also available at bigger stores like WinCo and Costco in bulk of 12 or more packages.
Warnings
- Don't add too much water, or too little water. Two cups is recommended. Too much water will destroy the flavor, basically you will eat water noodles, and too little water will just bunch up all the flavor in one area, or even burn the noodles from pot contact.⧼thumbs_response⧽
- When you're cooking more than one ramen at a time don`t double the water. Use a little less.⧼thumbs_response⧽
