How to Delete a GitHub Branch

This wikiHow shows you how to delete a branch of code from your GitHub repository. Doing this will allow you to manage the amount of branches for a particular line of code.

Log in to your GitHub account.

    If you haven’t done so, open your web browser and go to https://github.com to log in.

Open the main page of your repository.

    Click the menu, select Repositories, and click your repository. You'll see the menu at the top-left corner of GitHub. Choose the repository with the branch you want to delete.

View your branches.

    Click the [number] Branches tab. This is along the menu on top of the repository page.[1]

Click the trash icon on a branch to delete it.

    Scroll to the branch you don't want, then click its trash can icon. The branch will be deleted from your repository.
