Full Text

YouTube can be an effective tool for teachers in the classroom . Through YouTube, educators have access to thousands of educational videos and media that are streamlined as YouTube EDU, which provides videos on subjects like physics, geometry, history, geography, and science. These educational videos have various uses: they can aid teachers in explaining difficult concepts, demonstrate content through visual example, and engage students more effectively with material through music and visual media.

YouTube for teachers is not a difficult tool to master. Educators can create a YouTube channel for their class to manage video content that can be then shared with students. The YouTube for schools channel contains thousands of educational videos that can be selected for primary, secondary, and university level education. These videos have been created and shared by thousands of teachers and universities and streamlined into one "global classroom" through YouTube. Teachers can also use YouTube to upload videos of their own lectures or demonstrations, which is a particularly useful tool for flipped classroom models. Furthermore, teachers can also choose to join the YouTube Teachers Community, the group responsible for locating and sharing educational videos for YouTube EDU. Being part of the YouTube Teachers Community puts educators in contact with one another, and not only allows them to share educational media content easily, but also facilitates networking, conversation, and sharing pedagogical ideas throughout the community. Youtube for Teachers

Although YouTube for teachers offers innovative and engaging ways to deliver educational content to students, there are still some concerns about using the video-sharing website in schools. Specifically, offensive, violent, defamatory, and other inappropriate content can easily be accessed by students through the YouTube website. Although users may "flag" offensive material that YouTube will remove, there exist very few restrictions that filter this material before it is flagged.
