1Make sure you have the right equipment. These will only work if you have a number keypad on your computer keyboard or and external USB keypad.[3]

2Type the right code. Each character in your computer has a code made up of pressing the ALT key then a three-digit number, all of which are listed below.[4]
- á = Alt+0225
- é = Alt+00233
- í = Alt+00237
- ó = Alt+00243
- ú = Alt+00250
- ñ = Alt+00241
- ü = Alt+00252
- ¡ = Alt+00161
- ¿ = Alt+00191

Using the Character Map
- If you are not using Microsoft Office, then you must use the character map to copy the letters.

1Open Character Map by clicking the Start button.[5]
