Community Q&A

  • Question
How do I make hot cocoa with Hershey syrup and water only?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
It would work; it just may not be as good as milk. Heat the water and mix in the syrup.
  • Question
I am going to have to substitute vanilla extract for whipped cream. How much do I use?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Use only one or two drops, depending on how much hot chocolate you're making. Vanilla extract is stronger than some might think, so don't use too much of it.
  • Question
How much powdered sugar should I use if I want to replace the whipped cream?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Start with one tablespoon and add a second if you want. Whipped cream just makes it thicker and creamier.

Warnings

  • Make sure milk is not scalded. It is recommended to heat to 180 degrees but a good rule of thumb is to think of heating milk for a baby and then adjust for those who request HOT.
