How to Get Hitmontop on Pokémon FireRed

Hitmontop is one of the Johto fighting type in Pokémon. It's 1/3 besides Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee. If Hitmontop's your favorite out of the three, and you want it in your Fire Red, then read on!

Steps

Go to Saffron city. Use Fly to get there quicker and enter the gym like building to the right of the gym.

Either choose Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee. Your choice doesn't really effect anything besides owning a new Pokémon.

Obtain a Ditto. Can be found in the mansion in Cinnabar Island.

Fly to Island Four, and drop off Hitmonchan/Hitmonlee and the Ditto to the Day Care.

Wait for them to make some magic and be alert when you get your Tyrogue egg.

Walk around with the egg until it hatches to Tyrogue.

Start leveling up Tyrogue carefully. In order to make it evolve into Hitmontop, Tyrogue needs to have the same attack and defense stats. Nothing above or below, just the same stats. Which is extremely difficult.

If your Tyrogue has the same Attack and Defense stats and you raise it to level 20, it will successfully evolve into Hitmontop.

The Day Care Center in Kanto only allows one Pokemon to be raised. It's the one on Four Island that allows two Pokemon to be raised at once.

I have followed your instructions, but the day care says that Ditto and Hitmonchan don't like each other much. What did I do wrong?

Nothing. It is the game's way of telling you that it is not the best option. Normally the best combo is the same Pokemon. After that, the same egg group. This is why the game states Hitmonchan and Ditto don’t get along very well.

After you give sapphire to Celio you can enter the Cerulean Cave and catch the Legendary Mewtwo.

Warnings

Do not have different attack and defense stats for Tyrogue. You have to restart the whole process again if it well beyond level 20 and has different stat rates.
