Here's how to catch the legendary Ghost/Dragon Pokémon, Giratina. Giratina is the last of the Creation Trio, and is an extremely valuable addition to any trainers team. It has very high HP, attack, speed, & pretty much everything else, as well as many powerful moves to accommodate its stats.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 2:
Pokémon Platinum Version
-
1Go to the end of the distortion world. Giratina can be found at the end of the distortion world.
-
2Beat the first seven gyms to have access to Spear Pillar & the Distortion World. Unlike its counterparts, Dialga & Palkia, Giratina has an EXTREMELY low catch rate, & it will only last 30 turns in battle. Also, 2 of its moves sometimes raise ALL its stats at once, making it progressively harder to catch.Advertisement
-
3Put it to sleep with hypnosis or spore, & get it as close to 1 HP as possible. Unfortunately, It is part Ghost-Type, & thus is not affected false swipe.
-
4Use your favorite poke-balls on it, (dusk balls are useful here). If you fail to catch it, there is hope.
-
5Train your Pokémon & defeat the Pokémon League.
-
6Then, go to Spring Path Along the route that connects Veilstone & Pastoria.
-
7Keep going in the same direction until you find Giratina, now in its altered form.
-
8Keep beating the Elite Four until you catch it.

Method 2
Method 2 of 2:
Pokémon Diamond/Pearl
-
1Go to that same route between Veilstone & Pastoria. If you have met the requirements, there will be an opening in the side.
-
2You need rock climb & de-fog. Go in the cave & keep going in one direction until Giratina is there. Here, it is level 70, has the moves Shadow Force, Earth-Power,Slash, & Heal-Block.
-
3Put it to sleep or paralyze it, & lower its Hp as much as possible, but keep it alive. Then, its just a matter of about 40 dusk balls, or less if you're lucky.
