Minneapolis-St. Paul Quarantine Station
Jurisdiction
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) operates a quarantine station in Minneapolis. The station’s jurisdiction includes all U.S.-Canada land border crossings in North Dakota and Minnesota and all ports in Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota.
Quarantine Station Activities
- Respond to reports of illness or death on airplanes, maritime vessels (cargo), and other conveyances at international ports of entry within jurisdiction, including the water port of Duluth, Minnesota.
 - Partner with other federal agencies, local and state health departments, private medical providers, and hospitals in preparedness activities related to quarantine and isolation at U.S. ports of entry.
 - Review medical records of migrants who will reside permanently in the United States. Notify state and local health departments of any migrants with specific medical conditions.
 - Screen and enforce entry requirements for animals, etiologic agents, and vectors of public health significance.
 - Establish planning logistics, along with public health partners, for emergency public health and bioterrorism response.
 - Participate in Minnesota health committees: Refugee Health, Tuberculosis Advisory, and Pest Risk Assessment.
