Endocrine glands in the human head and neck

The endocrine system is the system of glands, each of which secretes different types of hormones directly into the bloodstream (some of which are transported along nerve tracts) to regulate the body. 

The illustration shows the endocrine system with a schematic view of a head and neck. The hypothalamus, pineal, and pituitary glands are identified in the brain and the thyroid gland in the throat. The endocrine system is the system of glands, each of which secretes different types of hormones directly into the bloodstream (some of which are transported along nerve tracts) to regulate the body.
